First Residents Move Into The Court At Buckshaw Retirement Village

The Court – part of the Buckshaw Retirement Village for the over 55s in Chorley – has now welcomed its first residents.

Ruth Beavers and Kath and Bernard Houghton were the first people to move in when they recently received the keys to their two bedroom apartments.

However, Mr and Mrs Houghton will hardly have had the chance to unpack and settle into their new home before they are packing again – this time to spend a month in Brisbane, Australia, to visit their son, Andrew.

Kath said: “Security was a big aspect of our decision to live at The Court because we like to travel overseas regularly and we wanted to know that our property will be safe whilst we are away. It’s good to know that our apartment is protected by 24 hour CCTV and that staff are also on hand to keep an eye on things.”

“We are also attracted by the tremendous lifestyle which The Court offers. I’m planning to use the gym and take up Tai Chi and Pilates, and I’m also keen to use the bowling green,” added Kath, who previously lived in a housing association flat in the area.

Ruth Beavers has moved into an apartment overlooking The Court’s bowling green after living for 52 years in a large semi detached house in Leeds.
