Julie McGlough has been appointed Health & Lifestyle Manager at the Buckshaw Retirement Village near Chorley.
A registered general nurse, Julie has over 25 years’ experience in the nursing and healthcare sector. In May she gained a “Special Judges Award” from the Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Healthcare, a charity founded by the Prince of Wales to promote integrated healthcare.
She has joined the Buckshaw Retirement Village after seven years as a wellbeing adviser with a Midlands-based provider of retirement villages, and 18 years as a nurse.
In her new role at Buckshaw Retirement Village she will offer residents health and lifestyle assessments, fall prevention, fitness and exercise programmes, and will also be on hand to give general advice and information.
Julie said: “I have a passion for health and healthy lifestyles and strongly believe that staying physically, mentally and socially active is the key to maintaining good health and well being in later life. I’m excited about working with the residents at Buckshaw Retirement Village and getting the most out of the village’s excellent lifestyle facilities, particularly the hydrotherapy pool.”
Residents at the village live in three distinct communities – The Court is for residents who are independent and like the idea of home ownership in a village community, The Grange is aimed at residents who need some support but don’t want to give up their independence and move into a care home, and The Lodge is a state-of-the art dementia care unit.
