Residents At The Court Prepare For First Christmas Celebrations

The first residents at The Court – part of the £45 million Buckshaw Retirement Village for the over 55s near Chorley – have now moved in and are preparing to celebrate their first Christmas there.

Staff at The Court are organising a Christmas party on December 19 for the new residents and also for people who will be moving in during the New Year.

Christmas celebrations at Buckshaw Retirement Village have been further boosted by the donation of five Christmas trees by the Botany Bay garden and retail centre at Chorley.

Susan Mathews, Head of Sales at Buckshaw Retirement Village, said: “We are delighted that Botany Bay have made such a generous donation – it’s provided a real festive feel to communal areas throughout the retirement village. We’re all looking forward to the Christmas party – it’s our first so we’re going to make sure that it’s really special.”

Designed for residents who are active and independent but like the idea of home ownership in a village community, The Court has a comprehensive range of on-site facilities which include a gymnasium, hair and beauty salon, bowling green, bistro, library, IT suite and shop.

Residents have an emergency call system so they can be confident of a response, day or night. There is also CCTV within the grounds, and a Manager is on hand to deal with the day to day running of the village.

As well as The Court, Buckshaw Retirement Village is made up of two further distinct communities – The Grange is for residents who need some support but don’t want to give up their independence and move into a care home, and The Lodge is a pioneering dementia care facility which has recently received the UK’s first gold standard for dementia friendly design.
