Buckshaw Retirement Village’s recent success in being judged the UK’s Best Care Village will help to establish a further Alzheimer’s carers’ support group in Lancashire.
As the retirement village’s nominated charity, the Alzheimer’s Society for Lancashire received £500 when Buckshaw gained a finalist placing in the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. The Society has now been presented with a further £1500 following Buckshaw’s success in gaining the national award.
The £2000 will now go towards developing another carers’ support group for Lancashire and also to help fund the salary of a newly-appointed dementia support worker.
Hazel Bayley, Service Manager of the Alzheimer’s Society for Lancashire, said: “We are absolutely delighted with Buckshaw Retirement Village’s success; not only because of the benefit to us but because Buckshaw really deserve their prize. I have visited the retirement village on several occasions and the facilities and design, coupled with the fantastic surroundings, are second to none.”
